Coordinated construction project Wiesenstraße
Sectional full closure of Wiesenstraße between Annenstraße and Clara-Zetkin-Straße
Today, extensive construction work has begun on the ground-breaking extension of Wiesenstraße between Annenstraße and Clara-Zetkin-Straße. At the same time, the sewerage system is being renewed in this section and also in the Annenstraße crossing. Furthermore, cables in the electricity installations are being renewed. This project is a coordinated construction project by the City of Chemnitz Civil Engineering Department, the City of Chemnitz waste disposal company and eins energie. The construction work is scheduled for completion in September 2022.
The City of Chemnitz's Civil Engineering Department is responsible for the structural expansion of Wiesenstraße from Annenstraße to Clara-Zetkin-Straße and the restoration of the pavements on both sides. The laid cinder paving will be removed and recycled. The new road cross-section has a 4.55 metre wide carriageway, which will be surfaced with asphalt. On both sides of the carriageway, there will be 2.0 metre wide parking spaces paved with granite paving. A 2.30 metre wide pavement made of concrete slabs will adjoin the parking spaces on both sides. The longitudinal parking bays will be located outside of the trailing curve crossings of fire service and property access roads.
The waste disposal company of the City of Chemnitz is renewing the combined sewer in Wiesenstraße made of vitrified clay in nominal widths of DN 400 and DN 300, including the connecting sewers made of vitrified clay in DN 150 and DN 200. The work is being carried out using the open trench method with a total sewer length of approx. 290 metres. The sewer construction work is being carried out in addition to the road construction section with the connection to the already renewed sewer section coming from Moritzstraße and the crossing of Annenstraße.
During the construction work, Wiesenstraße between Annenstraße and Clara-Zetkin-Straße will have to be fully closed to traffic in sections, taking the best possible account of the residents' situation. Traffic will be diverted via Reitbahnstraße and Clara-Zetkin-Straße or Ritterstraße.
Pedestrian traffic will be guided safely past the construction site at all times during the construction work. Access to neighbouring properties will be guaranteed.
Access to the Wiesenstraße 1 daycare centre will be possible during the sewer construction work in the Annenstraße intersection area with full closure of Annenstraße between Wiesenstraße and Zschopauer Straße.
The total construction costs amount to approx. 930,000 euros. The road construction portion amounts to around 550,000 euros. This is being financed by urban development funds from the federal government, the Free State of Saxony and the City of Chemnitz.
Chemnitzer Verkehrsbau GmbH from Chemnitz has been commissioned to carry out the construction work.
