Coordinated construction project Wiesenstraße
At its meeting today, the city council decided to carry out the Wiesenstraße construction project between Annen- and Clara-Zetkin-Straße. It is a coordinated project between the civil engineering department, the waste disposal company of the city of Chemnitz (ESC) and the utility company eins energie.
The ESC is renovating and renewing the combined sewers in Wiesenstraße using the cut-and-cover method. The utility company eins energie is laying medium-voltage and communication cables.
The lighting system in the area is also being adapted.
Over a total length of 287 metres, the road width will be reduced to 4.55 metres, followed by a 2.30 metre wide footpath. A total of 59 parallel parking spaces will be created, five more than before the refurbishment.
In addition, bicycle racks will be installed on the pavement area in front of the junction with Clara-Zetkin-Straße.
Construction will take just over a year. The construction work is scheduled to start at the beginning of August 2021 and be completed by the end of August 2022. Construction will take place in two sections, each with a full road closure. Access for residents and emergency vehicles is guaranteed at all times. The total costs amount to around 663,000 euros, including around 114,000 euros in urban development funding from the state.
