Cooperation agreement: City of Chemnitz and police jointly operate the security point in the city centre
Lord Mayor Sven Schulze and Police Commissioner Carsten Kaempf today signed a cooperation agreement for the new security point in Chemnitz city centre. This will initially regulate the cooperation between the police and the city's public order service until the end of 2025.
The base at the central bus stop will be jointly staffed by the police and the city's public order service and is expected to go into operation in May, once the renovations to the former fast food restaurant have been completed.
The new contact point for citizens will be open from Monday to Saturday from 3 pm to 10 pm. During major events in the city centre, staff will be on site for longer if necessary.
Lord Mayor Sven Schulze: "With the new security point, we are taking a further step towards strengthening the sense of security of the people of Chemnitz in the city centre. The centre serves as a point of contact for anyone with security-related issues, and the colleagues there can then take further steps if necessary. I would like to thank everyone involved for the good and targeted cooperation."
Police Commissioner Carsten Kaempf: "Together with the City of Chemnitz, we share the common goal of creating all possible conditions to ensure that the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 is a complete success. Security, especially in the city centre, will be a key success factor. The security point as a joint contact point in the city centre will be an important building block for the presence of the city security service and the police and will support the fastest possible intervention in the event of incidents in the city centre."
