Cool books for hot days - Book Summer Saxony starts on 18 June.
Book Summer Saxony - holiday campaign starts at Chemnitz City Library
Summer reading clubs have been an integral part of the holiday programme of many public libraries for many years. At Chemnitz City Library, the Book Summer Saxony reading promotion initiative is taking place for the ninth time.
The book summer starts on Monday, 18 June, in the central library in the TIETZ and in the Vita-Center. In the district library in the Yorck-Center, the holiday campaign begins with an opening event on Tuesday, 19 June, and in the branch in Einsiedel on Wednesday, 20 June.
All 11 to 16-year-olds who enjoy reading can become members of the reading club. Registration is free and uncomplicated. Interested pupils register at one of the participating libraries and then receive a logbook and a club card, which gives them access to more than 400 books.
There is guaranteed to be something for everyone at the Book Summer: exciting thrillers, mystery and fantasy novels and top current stories about love and life are available to all club members. Anyone who has read at least three club books will receive a certificate at the closing party on 24 August 2018 at the Atomino, which can then have a positive impact on their German grade in the coming school year. Holiday fun that's worth it!
The Saxon Book Summer is a reading promotion initiative under the patronage of the Saxon State Ministry of Culture, which takes place in over 90 Saxon libraries.
This project is sponsored by the Saxon State Ministry of Science and the Arts and coordinated by the Saxon State Association of the German Library Association.
