Conversion of the park railway station building in Küchwald
At its meeting today, the city council decided that the conversion and extension of the park railway station building can begin, subject to the availability of funds. The costs amount to 650,000 euros, of which 393,750 euros are subsidies and 20,000 euros are the operator's own funds. Construction is scheduled to begin in autumn 2019 and be completed in June 2020.
The ongoing operation of the park railway will be secured by temporary solutions (e.g. containers).
The park railway station includes functional and social rooms for employees (changing rooms, sanitary facilities, kitchenette, recreation room), operating rooms (warehouse, office, dispatcher, etc.) and rooms for the snack bar, ticket sales and public toilet. The refurbishment of the 40-year-old building is necessary in order to secure operations in the medium and long term. The renovation of the existing part of the building and a new extension are planned. In addition to new interior walls, a new roof in the form of a reinforced concrete ceiling is also planned.
