Controversial electric mobility" panel discussion at the environmental centre
As part of the interactive exhibition "Electromobility connects", the Chemnitz Environmental Centre invites you to a panel discussion on 4 August 2016 at 6.30 pm at the Chemnitz Environmental Centre, Henriettenstraße 5.
The topic of electromobility is viewed critically from many sides. Should the successful concepts of diesel and petrol engines give way to electrically powered vehicles, which are more expensive to buy, have a short range and can only be produced at considerable expense?
The Chemnitz Environmental Centre opens up the dialogue, because only a controversial discussion broadens knowledge and enables critical reflection. This is necessary in order to constructively accompany new developments - with their opportunities and risks.
The invited panellists would like to shed light on the opportunities and limitations of electromobility from different perspectives. Questions such as the range of electric cars and the charging infrastructure in the Chemnitz area will be discussed. Will our future look electromobile and is electromobility equally environmentally friendly? The event is also intended to encourage people not to focus solely on electric cars when it comes to electromobility, but rather to perceive electromobility as an overall system consisting of vehicle, energy system and transport concept.
A tour and test drive will be organised for a first-hand experience. Please arrive from 5.45 pm for this.
All interested parties are cordially invited.
The panellists are:
- Dirk Neubauer, Mayor of Augustusburg
- Andreas Schleux, future mobility e-mobility GmbH Leipzig
- Steffi Schönherr, Chemnitz Chamber of Crafts, Environmental and Technology Consultancy (enquired)
- Dr Jens Teuscher, TU Chemnitz ecomobility project
- Bernhard Herrmann, city councillor Bündnis 90/DIE GRÜNEN, private user of electric vehicles
Moderator: Katharina Weyandt, freelance journalist
