Contributors wanted for future dirt bike track

Please let us know if you would like to help organise the event and do any work by the end of October

Work on the new dirt bike track on Kalkstraße in Rottluff is due to start at the beginning of next year. A so-called pump track is to be created, a self-contained circuit with steep bends, waves and jumps that can be ridden on a bike.

The city of Chemnitz has made an area of around 5,000 square metres available for the activity area. In several joint meetings with the user representatives, a route with various obstacles and curves was defined and has already been submitted for approval.

Active users are now being sought to realise the project by spring 2023. Volunteers who would like to get actively involved in work assignments and support and help shape the construction of the facility are welcome to contact us by the end of October 2022 on 0371 488 6701 or by email at spielplatz(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.

As was already established during the first round of on-site participation, active user involvement is important for the realisation and acceptance of such a facility.
At the end of February, representatives of the City of Chemnitz met with young people for the first time at the future dirt bike track on Kalkstraße to discuss the design of the facility and to find out what the future users specifically want.

The track on Harthweg, which was previously designed and used by young people themselves, had to be closed for safety reasons. Employees of the City of Chemnitz and users set out in search of a new space and found the area on Kalkstraße.
