Contract for Dr Christoph Dittrich extended
General Director of Chemnitz Theatre to remain until 2028
The General Director of Chemnitz Theatre, Dr Christoph Dittrich, has extended his contract in the city. In the presence of Mayor Ralph Burghart, he signed his new agreement today, which is valid until 2028.
Commenting on his reasons, Dittrich said: "Chemnitz's theatres are much more than just stages. It is the people, the audience, the city and the artists that characterise them. I am therefore delighted to be able to continue to lead the five theatre divisions into the future. I am very touched by the trust placed in me. The focus of my work will be on youth and family as well as artistic excellence and, of course, the Capital of Culture 2025. Enthusiasm, discourse and emotion should remain the hallmarks of Chemnitz Theatre."
Mayor Ralph Burghart is delighted that Dittrich - who is also the founding Managing Director of the European Capital of Culture 2025 GmbH - will remain in the city: "With Christoph Dittrich, the Chemnitz theatres will retain a cultural manager at their helm who is recognised beyond Saxony and who has already frequently demonstrated his skills and impact. He identifies not only with his position, but also with the city and its people. With him, we can look forward to many wonderful and creative productions for opera, theatre, philharmonic orchestra, puppet theatre, young theatre and ballet in the coming years."
Dr Christoph Dittrich has been General Director of Theater Chemnitz since 2013.
