Contract extended: General Director Dr Christoph Dittrich to lead the municipal theatres until 2023
The contract of the General Director of Chemnitz Municipal Theatre, Dr Christoph Dittrich, has been extended by the City of Chemnitz, the theatre's shareholder, for a further five years. His contract, which runs until summer 2018, now runs until July 2023.
"I am delighted that we have been able to retain a successful General Director in Dr Dittrich," said Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig, who is also Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board. "This means continuity for our theatre. I am also delighted about this contract extension because Dr Dittrich personally and with his entire theatre is involved in projects in the city to an extent that is outstanding and enriching."
"I am very moved by the trust that has been placed in me. Chemnitz is a wonderful city of art and culture and I am looking forward to the great and at the same time responsible task of leading the theatre into the future with artistic visions in all areas. Cultural education is just as important to me as the top performances on our stages. Theatre can, should and must touch people and accompany them throughout their lives," says Dr Christoph Dittrich.
Dr Christoph Dittrich, born in 1966, has been General Director of Chemnitz Municipal Theatre since the 2013/14 season and is also Chairman of the State Association of the German Theatre Association and a member of the Saxon Cultural Senate. Before taking up his post in Chemnitz, Dr Dittrich was the artistic director of the Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen.
