Contemporary witnesses of 5 March 1945 meet
Invitation for journalists: on 4 March, 3 pm at the Hotel Chemnitzer Hof
On Monday, 4 March at 3 pm - the day before the Chemnitz Peace Day - Mayor Sven Schulze Chemnitz is once again inviting contemporary witnesses to a meeting at the Hotel Chemnitzer Hof. Around 25 Chemnitz residents who experienced the Second World War in Chemnitz and their companions accept the invitation. They will talk about their childhood memories of 5 March 1945 and share their experiences with other guests.
A total of 40 pupils from the Gruuna School, the Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff-Gymnasium and the Oberschule Am Körnerplatz, who have also been invited, want to talk to the contemporary witnesses and gain an authentic insight into the events of the time. The experiences of the Chemnitz witnesses of 5 March 1945 can thus be preserved and passed on to future generations.
Representatives of the media are also invited to attend.
Important note: You are welcome to attend the meeting and follow the discussions. However, individual interviews with the contemporary witnesses and guests will only be possible at the end of the event.
