Construction work on the reconstruction of the Chemnitz Valley cycle path not yet complete
Release planned for 15 June - Work continues on the railings, among other things
Contrary to reports in the media and on social media, the Chemnitz Valley cycle path below the Bornaer Straße bridge between Lohrstraße and Heinersdorfer Straße is not yet fit for cycling again. Although the hydraulic engineering work in the embankment area has been completed and the asphalt surface has been laid, construction work is still required in the verge area and on the railings.
For this reason, the cycle path is not yet open to traffic for the safety of cyclists. The official opening date is 15 June 2015, two weeks earlier than initially planned. The city is investing a total of 195,000 euros in the construction project.
Traffic information: Cyclists are asked to follow the signposted diversion via Blankenburgstraße and Dammweg during the construction work.
