Wastewater is channelled to the central sewage treatment plant in Heinersdorf for purification. Rainwater is channelled back into natural bodies of water via short routes.
Over the last four years, the waste management company of the city of Chemnitz (ESC) has connected a total of 92 properties in Mittelbach to the centralised disposal system. New connections are still open in Mittelbach's Bahnhofstraße. The construction work will start next year.
