Construction work on Beyerstrasse delayed
New bridge and road construction between Limbacher Straße and Paul-Jäkel-Straße over the Pleißenbach - completion now planned for October 2024
The coordinated construction work on Beyerstrasse has been delayed by around two to three months. The completion date originally planned for mid-July cannot be met.
Due to the storm events last December, the water in the Pleißenbach developed such a force that it destroyed the cofferdams and the piped drainage system. The reconstruction of the dewatering system and the subsequent bad weather phase delayed the construction process.
In addition, after the bridge was demolished, it was discovered that the throttle pipe of the retention basin in Beyerstrasse in the area of the bridge was in need of renovation and had to be replaced at the same time as the new bridge was built for structural reasons.
Unplanned additional services for the ESC have also become necessary.
The coordinated construction project consists of bridge demolition and new bridge construction as well as road construction with the supply media (electricity, lighting, communication and civil engineering for the traffic lights) in the Beyerstrasse area.
Beyerstrasse is fully closed between Matthesstrasse and Paul-Jäkel-Strasse for the demolition and construction of the new bridge over the Pleißenbach (construction phase 1). Beyerstrasse is fully closed in this area for the road construction between the REWE access road and Paul-Jäkel-Strasse (construction phase 2). Beyerstrasse will then be fully closed in this area for the roadworks between the REWE access road and Limbacher Strasse (construction phase 3).
Construction phases 1 and 2 are currently being worked on in parallel in order to minimise delays. It is planned to open the sections to traffic as soon as they are completed.
