Construction project in the municipal swimming pool: Renewal of the ventilation systems in the Chemnitz municipal swimming pool - 2.4 million euros to be invested
Sauna guests please note: from Monday (6 May) no sauna operation in the city pool
Sauna guests are asked to understand and note that the sauna in the Stadtbad must therefore remain closed as planned from Monday 6 May for the renovation work. The time from May to the end of September, which is less frequented by sauna visitors due to the season, will be used to implement the necessary measures. This also ensures that the sauna at Chemnitz City Baths will be available to sauna guests again at the start of the autumn and winter season.

The city's sports department has planned the following timeline for the realisation of the renovation of the ventilation systems in the Chemnitz municipal swimming pool in 2013:
Sauna: Closure from 06.05.2013 - reopening planned for 01.10.2013.
25 m indoor swimming pool: closure from 02/06/2013 - reopening planned for 01/11/2013.
50-metre hall: the ventilation systems will be replaced in 2014.
A total of eleven trades and five planning offices were commissioned by the sports department to realise the work in the municipal swimming pool following the tendering process carried out during the past winter months.
With the start of the construction work on Monday (6 May), the construction site will first be set up on site, and drainage, demolition and dismantling work will also begin.
The planned investment sum for all the ventilation systems to be replaced in the Chemnitz municipal swimming pool is around 2,400,000 euros.
