Construction preparation for "Neue Johannisvorstadt"
Traffic restrictions required from 18 November
On Monday, 18 November, work will begin to clear the "Neue Johannisvorstadt" construction site. This will require the laying of a new medium-voltage cable across the Augustusburger Straße access road. This will be carried out in two construction phases, each over one carriageway.
The following traffic restrictions are necessary at the Bahnhofstraße junction:
Augustusburger Straße traffic will be routed across the other side of the carriageway in the junction area. For the entire construction period until 20 December 2019, only one lane on the city and one lane on the country side will be available on Augustusburger Straße.
It will not be possible to turn left into Bahnhofstraße. A diversion will be set up for this traffic flow via Zieschestraße - Rembrandtstraße - Zschopauer Straße.
In order to avoid possible tailbacks on Augustusburger Straße, road users are advised to take a wide route via Bernhardtstraße to Rembrandstraße and on to Zschopauer Straße.
From 18 November to 18 December, the carriageway of Park der Opfer des Faschismus between Zschopauer Straße and Theresenstraße will also be completely closed for roadworks.
It is being prepared as a bypass route for the major "Neue Johannisvorstadt" project, which will affect the Bahnhofstraße/Brückenstraße/Augustusburger Straße junction.
During this process, it will once again be possible to exit Rembrandtstraße onto Zschopauer Straße in the direction of the city centre and to enter Rembrandtstraße from Zschopauer Straße in the direction of the city centre. Rembrandtstraße will then be available as a diversion route.
