Construction of outbuilding for Rabenstein primary school
At its meeting today, the city council approved the construction of an outbuilding including a wood chip system for the operation of a wood chip heating system for Rabenstein primary school. The costs amount to around 341,000 euros from the municipal budget. Construction is scheduled to begin in August 2018 and end in February 2019.
Back in 2007, the city council decided that all new construction, renovation and refurbishment work on municipal buildings should be planned and carried out with the highest possible energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy in mind. For this reason, the Stelzendorf day-care centre and the Adelsbergstraße nature conservation station, among others, are already operated with wood chip heating systems. This sustainable variant of energy management is also being installed at the Borna primary school, which is currently under construction.
For reasons of fire safety regulations and capacity, the wood chip system cannot be accommodated in the existing school building. The outbuilding with boiler room, storage for wood chips, workshop for the caretaker and two storage rooms for the after-school care centre and the school will be built directly adjacent to the schoolyard on the northern side of the school grounds.
