Construction of new football pitch in Konkordiapark begins
The new football pitch in Konkordiapark will extend the leisure centre.
The new small pitch (approx. 23 x 15 metres) will be located between the existing facilities on an open grass area.
Construction will start next week. Subject to appropriate weather conditions (the installation of the synthetic surface requires dry and mild days), the construction work should essentially be completed by the end of October. Depending on the weather, the remaining landscaping work and maintenance of the neighbouring vegetation areas is scheduled to be completed by June 2018.
The new pitch for various ball sports was planned in consultation with the future users. Before the new pitch surface is laid, the drainage of the future pitch surface and the base layers will be installed. The surface of the new pitch will be installed as a water-permeable two-layer synthetic surface made of rubber granulate with a top layer. The entire pitch will then be surrounded by a special metal fence to catch the ball. The goals with two side openings are integrated into the 4.50 metre high front sides to provide access to the pitch. The edging on the long sides is two metres high.
The work is being carried out by Schmidt-Bau Hoch-, Tief-, und Ingenieurbau GmbH from Augustusburg. Independent landscape architect Petra Rosenblatt from Hainichen, who also provided the planning services, was commissioned with the local construction supervision.
A total of 170,000 euros will be invested in planning and construction work for the new leisure area. The measure is being subsidised with 75 percent from the Saxon Investment Strengthening Act (Sächsisches Investitionsstärkungsgesetz Budget "Bund").
