Construction of a new daycare centre in the Altendorf district

At its meeting today, Chemnitz City Council decided to build a daycare facility for children at the Louis-Braille-Straße site in the Altendorf district, which will be available with 100 places from 1 January 2021.

As a long-standing cooperation partner, Chemnitzer Siedlungsgemeinschaft eG is building the daycare centre and is providing the 2,960 m² site as the developer. The centre will be operated by an independent provider.

The centre is designed as an integrative facility with barrier-free access. The spatial requirements comply with the Saxon Law for the Promotion of Children in Daycare Centres (SächsKitaG). The recommendations of the Saxon State Ministry of Social Affairs regarding the spatial requirements for day-care centres are also taken into account

The pedagogical concept for the operation of the daycare centre, the role of the pedagogical staff, the cooperation with parents and the assurance and further development of the pedagogical quality of the SFZ Förderzentrum gGmbH comply with the SächsKitaG. At the same time, special features, needs and networking in relation to the neighbourhood were identified and the use of synergies with cooperation partners was presented.

The daycare centre will have a net floor area of 900 sqm, resulting in a net cold rent of EUR 15.61 per sqm.

The City of Chemnitz will pay an annual rent of EUR 200,585 to the operator SFZ Förderzentrum gGmbH for a period of 15 years.

Funding for the operation of the day-care centre is based on the framework agreement between the municipality and the independent provider on the provision of operating costs for day-care centres (in accordance with 17 para. 2 SächsKitaG) and is already part of the budget and requirements planning.
