Connection of drinking water and gas connections: Traffic restrictions on Chemnitztalstraße / Dorfstraße
Chemnitztalstraße will be closed on one side at Dorfstraße from 25 October to 2 November 2016 for the construction of new drinking water and gas house connections. Traffic will be regulated by a traffic light system and alternately routed across the construction site. The Dorfstraße, Chemnitztalstraße (towards the city centre) and Chemnitztalstraße (towards the countryside) access roads can then only be given the green light individually. Traffic jams and waiting times are therefore to be expected. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible and to use the Chemnitz-Ost or Chemnitz-Mitte motorway junctions.
The Wittgensdorf district will be connected to the city of Chemnitz as follows: On Heinersdorfer Straße, the surface renewal will be completed on 24 October, so that only remaining work with selective road narrowing will be carried out until 2 November.
The one-way regulation of the streets Am Bahrehang and Am Bahrebach agreed with the residents of the Bahrebachsiedlung housing estate will be implemented on 25 October, meaning that the traffic ban imposed in August will no longer apply. The construction work on Obere Hauptstraße between Ringstraße and Am Hang will be extended until 28 October due to additional work. However, the construction site can be reduced in size to minimise traffic obstructions.
