Luise Schulmeister celebrates her 106th birthday on 7 November 2012

Luise Schulmeister will be celebrating her 106th birthday in Chemnitz on 7 November 2012.
A representative of the Mayor's Office will be wishing her a happy birthday at 11 a.m. at Feudelstraße 24 in 09125 Chemnitz.

Luise Schulmeister is happy: To this day, the elderly senior citizen largely manages without medication and only needs a walking stick for support when she walks around her daughter Heidi Fritzsche's detached house and property. She has lived here for over 40 years and is supported by her daughter to the best of her ability. In the meantime, an outpatient care service also looks after her daily well-being.

Luise Schulmeister spent many years of her long life caring for others: She was born Luise Leutbecher on 7 November 1906 in Regensburg and grew up with three siblings. At a young age, she was employed as a housekeeper in a family until she married her husband Edmunt Schulmeister at the age of 30 and became the mother of three children herself. From then on, her own family played the main role in her life. She had to cope with a few strokes of fate: The youngest of her children died shortly after birth, the second at the age of 20.
Today, her relationship with her daughter Heidi, whose help she can always count on, is all the closer. It was the same the other way round: Luise Schulmeister looked after her grandson until he was three years old to enable her daughter to work.

So there is good reason to celebrate and plenty to talk about when the whole family gathers in Feudelstraße on Wednesday, 7 November 2012 to toast Luise Schulmeister's well-being. Incidentally, at 106 years of age, the elderly celebrant is currently the oldest woman in Chemnitz, only slightly surpassed by a Chemnitz resident aged 107.
