Charlotte Wittig celebrates her "milestone" birthday on 22 December 2014
Charlotte Wittig will turn 100 on 22 December 2014. A representative of the Mayor's Office will bring the City of Chemnitz's congratulations to the birthday celebrant at 10 a.m. at the Thomas Morus Haus in Eislebener Straße 12 in 09126 Chemnitz.
A real family celebration will be held in the Silbersaal in Chemnitz, where Charlotte Wittig is expecting her two children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Freiberg native has every reason to celebrate: 100 years of life with many ups and downs lie behind her, two world wars, years full of hardship, but also many wonderful years. Her marriage to Rudolf Wittig, which ended in June 1934, lasted until his death in 1984, after which she spent twenty happy years with her new partner. She is still in close contact with his children and grandchildren, who will also be attending the birthday party.
The former saleswoman, who worked in the Freiberg department stores' for many years, is still an enthusiastic singer today. She has cultivated this hobby all her life, alongside needlework. In her current living environment, she also tries out many new leisure activities, depending on her mood on the day. The senior citizen enjoys the familiar atmosphere in the Caritas-run Thomas Morus Haus, where she feels comfortable and secure. But her greatest joy is the regular visits from her children and grandchildren.
