Congratulations on your 100th birthday!

Johanna Neubert celebrates her "milestone" birthday on 21 June 2014

Johanna Neubert celebrated her 100th birthday on 21 June 2014. A representative of the Mayor's Office will be wishing her a happy birthday at 10.30 a.m. at the AlexA senior citizens' residence at Hohe Straße 6 in 09112 Chemnitz.

Johanna Neubert doesn't look her age: the sprightly lady, who moved into assisted living at the AlexA senior citizens' residence at the end of last year, only uses the facility's services from time to time for the sake of socialising. She keeps herself physically and mentally fit with a daily walk, crossword puzzles and Sudokus. She gets help around the house from her three children and their families. Johanna Neubert lived with her daughter in Radebeul for almost twenty years until she moved back to her hometown in 2013.

Johanna Neubert, née Gläser, has many memories of a beautiful, sunny childhood with her older sister and younger brother in Chemnitz. The family lived in Siegmar, where her father was an architect and master builder. After completing the 10th grade at the Höhere Mädchenbildungsanstalt on the Kaßberg, she attended a home economics school in Kassel for a year, where she was also trained for office work. She then worked as an office clerk in her parents' engineering company "Emil & G. Müller KG".

Almost revolutionary for the time, Johanna Neubert passed her driving test at the age of 19 and only gave up driving at the age of 96. She was always "on the move". Swimming, tennis, skiing in winter - sport was part of her life.

So there is every reason for the family, which now includes eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, to celebrate the jubilarian today and crown this special birthday with a proper party.
