Hildegard Stein celebrates her "round" birthday on 19 August 2012
Hildegard Stein from Chemnitz will turn 100 on 19 August 2012. A representative of the Mayor's Office will be bringing the City of Chemnitz's congratulations to the jubilarian on her birthday at 3 p.m. in the assisted living/residential area I at Limbacher Straße 285 in Chemnitz.
Hildegard Stein, née Schubert, was born in Chemnitz on 19 August 1912 as one of four siblings. The family was the centre of her life. Her son Harry was born in 1929, followed by two granddaughters, two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Granddaughter Gabriele was brought up by Hildegard Stein and her great-grandchildren also enjoyed spending time with their great-grandmother in their childhood. The close family ties are still evident today: the senior citizen regularly receives visits from her loved ones.
Hildegard Stein lived in her own home until she was 96, but had to move into assisted living in December 1996 due to age-related health restrictions. The celebration of her 100th birthday also takes place here. The family will celebrate her on this day and chat about many an event in Hildegard Stein's long life over coffee and cake. Whether as a sales assistant in the Chemnitz department stores' "Schocken" or as a temp in a grocery shop until the age of 75 - the senior citizen, who used to love her hobby of needlework, has experienced a lot.
