Congratulations on your 100th birthday!
Gertrud Herklotz celebrates her 100th birthday on 18 December 2012
Mrs Gertrud Herklotz will turn 100 on 18 December 2012 in Chemnitz. A representative of the Mayor's Office will be bringing the City of Chemnitz's congratulations to her on her birthday at 4 pm at the "Am Wald" nursing home for the elderly at Rabensteiner Straße 14 in 09224 Chemnitz.
Gertrud Herklotz can rely on one of her children and grandchildren regularly visiting her at the "Am Wald" nursing home. But on her birthday, her cosy room is sure to be cramped, because on this special day, all of her family members have come to congratulate and celebrate Gertrud Herklotz. The family gathers for coffee in the nursing home to celebrate the 100th birthday of their oldest family member.
Even though her health is no longer so good after two strokes, Gertrud Herklotz is always happy to have visitors. After all, her family has always been the centre of her life. She lost her first husband in the war at a young age and raised her son and daughter alone. As a resourceful housewife, she knew how to provide for the family even in difficult times. On her own farm in Röhrsdorf, where she later lived with her second husband Max, she was passionate about gardening and keeping small animals. As a trained seamstress, she not only dressed her own family, but also supplemented the family budget by tailoring clothes for neighbours and friends.
Now the family, which now includes four great-grandchildren, lovingly looks after Gertrud Herklotz's well-being. And so on the day of her 100th birthday, there will be plenty to talk about when everyone gathers round to toast her wellbeing.
