Margarete Liebig celebrates her "milestone" birthday on 10 September 2016
Margarete Liebig turned 100 on 10 September 2016.
A representative of the Mayor's Office at Zschopauer Straße 169 in 09126 Chemnitz sends the City of Chemnitz's congratulations to the jubilarian on her birthday.
The assisted living facility is now home to the jubilarian, who was born 100 years ago in the former town of Mügeln (now Heidenau). With the help of her daughter and the outpatient care service, she still manages her everyday life here largely on her own, despite suffering from Parkinson's disease.
But that's not all: Margarete Liebig has not given up travelling, which she has always loved. Together with her daughter, the trained saleswoman is always drawn to faraway places, even travelling by cruise ship. She worked as a tour guide herself until she was 80 years old, a welcome change after retirement.
Whether travelling experiences, opera performances or the events of the last 100 years - there will certainly be plenty to talk about at the family celebration, which will be attended by the 74-year-old daughter and 72-year-old son and their families, as well as the four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
