Congratulations on your 100th birthday!

Hildegard Weber celebrates her 100th birthday on 7 June 2013

Hildegard Weber will turn 100 on 7 June 2013. A representative of the Mayor's Office will be wishing her a happy birthday at 10 a.m. at the ASB retirement and nursing home at Herderstraße 6 in 09120 Chemnitz.

Hildegard Weber's family has been making a note of this special Friday in their diary for a long time: the oldest member of the family is 100 years old - something that needs to be celebrated, because it's not every day that you get to celebrate an anniversary like this!

Hildegard Weber, née Krempel, was born on 7 June 1913 in Dorfchemnitz and married her husband Herbert Weber in May 1939. Their two children were born soon after, daughter Evelyn and son Peter, to whom Hildegard Weber devoted herself completely in the early years. Cooking, baking, sewing for the whole family - she looked after the well-being of her loved ones. In the 1960s, she made the decision to return to work. A trained wholesale clerk herself, she first worked at the post office in Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf and later at the tax office on Glockenstraße. Her husband Herbert worked at the Karl-Marx-Stadt Institute for Machine Tools until he retired. He died in 2001.

Today, Hildegard Weber's home is the ASB retirement and nursing home. She is cared for here and her son Peter looks after her. Her health does not always play along, she has had many operations. Rest and sleep bring relief, memories of old times outweigh new ones. But once awake, Hildegard Weber is fully focussed: she is always up for a nice chat.
Her family, which now includes three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, also look forward to this. Over coffee and cake, they want to celebrate their jubilarian and chat at length.
