Congratulations on your 100th birthday!
Elfriede Enzmann celebrates her "milestone" birthday on 24 October 2013
On 24 October 2013, Elfriede Enzmann will turn 100 years old, and a representative of the Mayor's Office will bring her congratulations from the City of Chemnitz to the "Emanuel Gottlieb Flemming" nursing home for the elderly at Flemmingstraße 8 in 09116 Chemnitz at 10 a.m. on her birthday.
Elfriede Enzmann's greatest pleasure is listening to music - classical and folk music are her favourites. Blind from birth, the Leipzig-born senior citizen has always been particularly dependent on her hearing. She lived for many years with her husband, who died in 1990, on the grounds of the Chemnitz Institute for the Blind, where they found the best conditions for a life together. It was also here that they met and fell in love during their training. Their wedding in April 1948 was followed by many happy years together.
In the meantime, Elfriede Enzmann has found new contacts: She receives a visit twice a week, which she always eagerly awaits. Mr Wuttke from the visiting and care service has been looking after the senior citizen since 2006. The two of them now have an intimate relationship. Her carer Mrs Weber is also always there for her.
Having no children herself, Elfriede Enzmann keeps in touch with her niece at least by telephone, as visits are rarely possible due to the distance.
