Congratulations on your 100th birthday
Else Gärtner celebrates her milestone birthday on 18 March 2018
Mrs Else Gärtner reached the age of 100 on 18 March 2018. A representative of the Mayor's Office brings the congratulations of the City of Chemnitz to the birthday celebrant in the Ansgar residential home at Salzstraße 6 in 09113 Chemnitz.
Else Gärtner would love to sing all day long. As one of three "Niederdorfer Haadlerchen", she often performed on stages in the Stollberg area at the age of 17 and won many prizes together with her fellow singers. In addition to singing, she was also fond of dancing, which is how the trained seamstress met her future husband Heinz, who was an air force officer at the time. After the birth of her three children, she worked as a nursery teacher until the age of 67 - a job she loved and was passionate about. It wasn't easy for her to stop, she wanted to continue to be there for her fellow human beings and take on a meaningful task.
The senior sports group, which she then led and only handed over to younger members at the age of 95, certainly benefited from the joie de vivre of this open-minded woman, who mastered all challenges with vigour and joy throughout her life - by her own admission, the basis of her fulfilled life. She no longer does gymnastics, but she would still like to join a singing group. She is now looking forward to the approaching spring, which she would like to enjoy in the garden of the residential home. But first she will be celebrating with the whole family: After all, a 100th birthday is something very special!
