Congratulations on your 100th birthday!

Hildegart Göhler celebrates her "milestone" birthday on 22 April 2015

Hildegart Göhler will turn 100 on 22 April 2015. Reiner Gehlhar from the Mayor's Office will be wishing her a happy birthday at 10 a.m. at the "Emanuel Gottlieb Flemming" nursing home for the elderly at Flemmingstraße 8, House 31, in 09116 Chemnitz.

Daughter Hannelore and son Volker have fond memories of their childhood. Family life was always important to their parents. Their mother initially worked as a housemaid and later as a cashier at the Berger glove factory in Rabenstein, then stayed at home from 1945 to look after the children. In the 1960s, she took up a job in the mail order business, which she did until her retirement. The family enjoyed spending their free time in the allotment garden in the "Zwiebel" in Siegmar. This was Hildegart Göhler's pride and joy and needlework was her great passion.

Over the years, the family grew considerably: in addition to her own children, she had five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In 2012, Hildegart Göhler and her husband moved into the retirement home in Flemmingstraße, where they both really appreciated the green surroundings. It was here that they celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary together in May last year and the 100th birthday of Walter Göhler, who died in November 2014, in August.

Today, the senior citizen has limited mobility due to her age and is supported by her family and the care staff at the centre. She still loves going for walks in the neighbourhood and also enjoys attending events at the home.

For her special birthday, the family has planned an afternoon celebration in her honour at a restaurant on the Schloßberg.
