Congratulations on your 100th birthday!
Dora Richter celebrates her "milestone" birthday on 23 December 2015
On 23 December 2015, Dora Richter will turn 100 years old. A representative of the Mayor's Office will be wishing her a happy birthday at 10 a.m. at the "Kreuzstift" senior citizens' centre at Kanzlerstraße 31 in 09112 Chemnitz.
As the youngest of three siblings, Dora Richter, née Bauer, grew up in Altenhain, where she lived until 1998. To this day, she has retained her passion for singing, which she had already chosen as her favourite subject at school. After completing the eighth grade, she learned the profession of "Kettlerin" in the hosiery factory, which she practised until her marriage to Willy Richter on 15 May 1937. In the years that followed, she devoted herself entirely to her family: Dora Richter gave birth to four children and cared for her mother at home. Her husband Willy had to go to war in 1942, and it was not until 1947 that the father of the family returned home from captivity.
Today, the jubilarian can look back on a long and fulfilling life. She only moved into the nursing home two years ago, as she now has limited mobility and is dependent on support in her everyday life. She receives this from both the care staff and her family, which now includes six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She particularly looks forward to their visits because, in addition to singing, she has another passion that she loves to pursue - three times a week it's "Mensch, ärgere dich nicht!".
