Congratulations: Helene Lohse celebrates her 100th birthday on 3 September
Helene Lohse will turn 100 on 3 September. A representative of the Mayor's Office will be bringing the City of Chemnitz's congratulations to the birthday celebrant on her birthday at 10 a.m. at the Chemnitz City Mission care home for the elderly at Rabensteiner Straße 14 in 09224 Chemnitz.
Born as a baker's daughter in Hohenleuben, Thuringia, Helene Lohse led an eventful life. It was only at the ripe old age of 96 that she gave up her own household in Chemnitz-Altendorf and moved into the "Am Wald" care home. Here she receives the support from the nursing staff that she now depends on due to her health restrictions.
After her first husband was killed in the war, Helene Lohse married her second husband Heinz in 1948. At this time, she worked in her parents' bakery, which was then leased out in 1952. In 1970, her daughter and son-in-law opened the Uhlmann bakery in Grüna, where Helene Lohse once again lent a hand and supported the young people.
Today, the family supports the older woman to the best of their ability. Daughter Sigrid comes to visit every two to three days to see how things are going. She can give her mum a special treat when she brings her dog with her, as Helene Lohse has always been passionate about animals.
On Helene Lohse's birthday, the family, which now includes a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters aged 13 and 10, will gather in the afternoon to celebrate this very special anniversary together.
