Conflict management in public spaces
Needs assessment has started - public workshop on 18 December
In March 2019, the Chemnitz City Council commissioned the City of Chemnitz to carry out a needs assessment for conflict management in public spaces in the city of Chemnitz. The Verein zur Förderung der Bildung - VFB Salzwedel e.V. was awarded the contract for the participatory analysis in September 2019.
The aim is to analyse and further develop opportunities and approaches for different actors in administration, politics and urban society that can help to resolve conflicts sustainably and improve the participation of citizens in local life. In this context, background discussions will initially be held with selected individuals and several workshops will be organised to clarify requirements.
The Verein zur Förderung der Bildung - VFB Salzwedel is an educational institution that advises municipalities on challenges and conflicts in the areas of civic participation, integration and participation as well as social change through its "Competence Centre for Municipal Conflict Counselling".
Key players in the city will be interviewed in an initial analysis. This will be followed by a public workshop on 18 December from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pentagon3 conference centre.
