Confirmation from the landlord will be required in future when moving house
New Federal Registration Act from 1 November 2015
The Federal Registration Act comes into force on 1 November 2015. In this context, the Residents' Registration Office would like to draw your attention to the fact that in future, when registering or re-registering your own home, you will have to submit a written confirmation from the landlord or owner of the flat to the registration office confirming that you have moved in or out. Presentation of the tenancy agreement is not sufficient.
Confirmation is also required when deregistering, but only if you are moving abroad, deregistering a secondary residence or if you are not moving into a new home in Germany (for the time being).
