Confession and declaration of love: "I C" - "I love Chemnitz" lettering unveiled today on Thomas-Mann-Platz
What is (currently) probably the biggest declaration of love for Chemnitz was unveiled today on Thomas-Mann-Platz in front of the Sachsen-Allee shopping centre: "I loveC" can now be read here with an artistically designed lettering in oversized letters. The declaration of love was unveiled on Saturday morning by Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig together with the initiators and supporters of the campaign: the City of Chemnitz trades, represented by District Master Craftsman Peter Fritzsche, Sachsen-Allee shopping centre, represented by centre manager Jens Preißler, Radio Chemnitz, represented by radio presenter Falko Maiwald, who also hosted the programme on site.
Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "This declaration of love for Chemnitz is an original reflection of our urban communication campaign - The city is me. I am very pleased about the idea and the joint realisation - the lettering is a beautiful commitment to Chemnitz! If citizens feel addressed and invited in this way, one goal of our campaign has been achieved. In addition, the lettering is of course also a nice photo motif for the people of Chemnitz and their guests."
Centre Manager Jens Preißler: "I am very pleased about the campaign launched by the city administration, Die Stadt bin ich, and therefore wanted to make a contribution to this campaign myself - together with committed partners, we have succeeded in doing so today with the unveiling of our declaration of love for Chemnitz. I am firmly convinced: We have every reason to like Chemnitz. It should therefore be a matter of course to initiate and spread something beautiful and positive about Chemnitz ourselves."
District master craftsman Peter Fritzsche: "Our Chemnitz skilled crafts sector - which has a strong regional position as a branch of industry - is very keen to support the city's image campaign and, of course, also draw attention to the skilled crafts sector and the skilled crafts image campaign. The skilled crafts sector stands behind Chemnitz - we also want to show this with the declaration of love for Chemnitz that we have initiated."
Keyword "The city is me"
The people of Chemnitz are at the centre of the new communication concept. They describe their attitude to life, profess the good sides of their city and thus become ambassadors for a strong Chemnitz worth living in. The campaign advertises with the inviting motto "The city is me". This year, people in the city and surrounding area will be addressed first in order to jointly develop what is important for the city's identity and then, next year, to get Chemnitz talking outside the city. The online dialogue platform www.die-stadt-bin-ich.de is at the heart of the campaign.
In addition to confessions, whether in words, pictures or videos, visitors can find contributions here and on the Facebook page www.facebook.com/diestadtbinich, for example via the "MACHER DER WOCHE" and the photoblog - 1000 Gesichter. Since the launch of the communication campaign "The city is me" almost four months ago, 300 confessions have been received in written and photographic form or in small videos.
In connection with the unveiling of the lettering, visitors also had the opportunity to take part in a photo competition on the lettering motif - the prize: a shopping voucher from the centre worth 100 euros. We are looking forward to seeing the photos!
