Conference to promote the integration of migrants in the city of Chemnitz - continuation of "Asylum practice"
Press invitation: 24 August, 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., Chamber Hall of the IHK Chemnitz
Tomorrow, Wednesday 24 August, the information and exchange event for "practitioners" from migration social work and asylum support for the development of a joint integration concept will take place in the chamber hall of the IHK, Straße der Nationen 25,
09111 Chemnitz, Germany. The event, originally planned as the 3rd "Asylum Practice" conference, was renamed "Conference to promote the integration of migrants in the city of Chemnitz".
Why a new name? The City of Chemnitz will work with many partners to develop an integration concept that will focus not only on asylum seekers, but on all people living in Chemnitz. As many Chemnitz residents as possible - experts in migration work, migrant self-organisations, authorities and institutions, volunteers, but also residents of the city - should take part in the development of the concept. The conference represents an important step in the development of the integration concept, so that a broadening of the perspective - combined with a new name - was necessary.
Around 150 people from politics, administration, business and society are expected to attend tomorrow's event.
The conference will begin at 8.30 a.m. with a welcome from the Managing Director of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Hans-Joachim Wunderlich, and Mayor Philipp Rochold and will include presentations until 11 a.m. by, among others by Thomas Ewald, Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, Sebastian Vogel, Head of the Equality and Integration Division at the Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and Consumer Protection, Cornelia Utech, Head of the Social Welfare Office of the City of Chemnitz and Angelika Hugel, Chairwoman of the Management Board of the Chemnitz Employment Agency.
Afterwards, an interactive round of all participants is planned under the direction of the IQ network on the existing interfaces of migration work in the city of Chemnitz.
After the lunch break, the participants will come together in workshops to work out measures for the planned integration concept.
Finally, the results of the workshops will be presented at 3.15 pm.
Representatives of the press are cordially invited.
