The 59th conference of municipal press officers is taking place in the New Town Hall until Friday. The annual conference of the German Association of Cities is being held in Chemnitz for the first time and will be welcomed this evening by Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig and Mayor Stefan Weber.

The three-day meeting of speakers, press spokespersons and marketing managers will focus on professional dialogue on current topics. The programme includes presentations and panel discussions. For example, Prof Christoph Igel from the Technical University of Ced will speak on the changing use of media. In addition, there will be discussions on supporting citizen participation processes and the ever-increasing speed of communication.

Joerg G. Fieback and Ralf Sippel from Zebra will present the "I am the city" campaign - and discuss this under the title "More than just a slogan - how cities build their image". In addition, cycling legend Wolfgang Lötzsch will talk about his life story in the GDR in a contemporary witness interview.

The 75 conference participants come from all over Germany, including Hamburg, Mainz, Rostock, Jena, Dresden, Frankfurt am Main, Aachen, Landau in der Pfalz and Flensburg, and will take part in various city tours to gain an impression of the city of Chemnitz. For example, the Chemnitz University of Technology and the Smart Systems Campus or the city centre with the Gunzenhauser Museum and, shortly before its grand opening, the SMAC are on the programme.

Invitation to the photo session

The press officers will meet tomorrow, Thursday, at 4.00 pm for a group photo in front of the Karl Marx Monument. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend. The press office will also be happy to organise interviews with conference participants.
