Concerts in the castle - New event on 6 August 2017 at the Schloßbergmuseum

When Moritz of Saxony converted the former Benedictine monastery in Chemnitz into a princely palace after the Reformation, a new form of music also moved into the time-honoured halls. The Schloßbergmuseum, in co-operation with church music director Siegfried Petri, is now continuing what began in the years around 1548 with renowned musicians of the time such as Cerbonio Besozzi in a completely new concert series: At the centre of the courtly music is the museum's Sassmann harpsichord, an instrument that brings forgotten worlds of sound to life in a contemporary way.

The next event in the "Concerts in the Castle" series will take place next Sunday, 6 August 2017 at 5 pm in the Picture Hall of the Schloßberg Museum. Siegfried Petri, Annelie Matthes and Mechthild Winter will perform works by Georg Friedrich Händel, Georg Philipp Telemann and others.

Tickets are available at the museum box office at a price of 12 (reduced 9) euros.
