Concept for extended collection of recyclable materials adopted

Yesterday, the city council approved the concept for the expanded collection of recyclable materials in Chemnitz (B-020/2015). This will create an easily accessible disposal option for all Chemnitz residents for household items made of metals and small electrical and electronic appliances.

By the end of 2015, the ASR will have set up 110 collection containers for metals and small electrical and electronic appliances at the existing recycling islands.

A further 40 recycling islands are to be converted by the end of 2016 so that collection containers for metals and small electrical and electronic appliances can also be set up there.

This was preceded by a pilot scheme in the Flemming area, which was very well received by the people of Chemnitz.

Chemnitz residents in this area was very well received.

Items made of metal are, for example

  • cutlery, pans, pots
  • tools, ironmongery
  • Copper and brass objects

Small electrical and electronic appliances e.g.

  • Coffee machines, egg cookers
  • Cameras, video cameras
  • Blood pressure monitors, hearing aids
  • Electric toothbrushes, hair dryers
  • drills, irons
  • Radios, headphones, MP3 players
  • calculators, mobile phones
