Press invitation: Friday, 11 September, 12 noon, Stöcklstraße 4
On Friday, 11 September at 12 noon, Michael Stötzer, Mayor of Chemnitz, together with Chemnitz city councillors, will officially open the partially renovated Harthau primary school after 23 months of construction. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to this event.
During the partial renovation, which began in August 2018, a lift was added to provide accessibility and a connector was built between the two school buildings. A stair platform lift was also required on the ground floor to bridge any differences in height. An accessible toilet is now also located on the ground floor. The windows and window sills on the north gable and in the dining hall were also replaced and the exterior façade refurbished.
Cloakrooms were built in the interior of House 1. The classrooms and the dining hall were fitted with acoustic ceilings. Doors were refurbished in line with listed building requirements. The vestibules in Entrance 1 and 2 were remodelled. Painting and flooring work was carried out. Most of the old, unused parquet flooring was refurbished. In addition, the electrical system was renewed, wall panels were fitted with glare-free additional lighting, a category 3 fire alarm system and a new data network were installed. New waste water and drinking water pipes were also laid and a grease separator installed.
The brick and natural stone façade in building 2 was renovated. Three new classrooms and a group study room were created on the first floor. New interior walls were installed for a toilet facility. The interior doors were renewed, the top floor ceiling was insulated and a new heating system was installed. In addition, the roof of House 2 was completely re-roofed.
The total costs amount to 2.2 million euros. Almost 880,000 euros are being provided from subsidies.
Currently, 155 children in seven classes attend the two-form entry primary school in Harthau.
