"Community makes you strong": 12th neighbourhood festival at Luisenplatz
The 12th district festival for the residents of the Schloßchemnitz, Kaßberg and Altendorf districts is being held on Saturday, 14 September from 2 pm to 8 pm. Under the motto "Community makes you strong", residents, members of associations and institutions, tradespeople, pupils and teachers from the schools in the districts are preparing an extensive programme with many entertaining and informative offers at over 45 stands and are looking forward to welcoming many visitors. Once again this year, the neighbourhood management "Stadteingang" and the community centre Leipziger Straße 39 under the auspices of the association Neue Arbeit Chemnitz are responsible for the preparation and main organisation of the 12th district festival.
At the district festival on Luisenplatz, the meadow will once again be a colourful playground for young and old at the stands from 2 pm to 7 pm: There will be games of skill for body and mind, pony rides and face painting for children, balloon modelling, Rasta braiding, African wood art and jewellery, a wheel of fortune and tombola, various sports and big games, numerous creative activities, intergenerational chess and geriatric clowning. Of course, there will also be all kinds of culinary delicacies from the international kitchen, as well as tasty barbecues, popcorn, candy floss and much more. The stage programme (see poster for details) invites you to enjoy a multi-faceted potpourie of international rhythms, traditional dances from Africa and India, live music with "Jeneeny & Friends", breakdancers from Kraftwerk e. V. until 8 pm, a theatre performance by the Küchwaldbühne and colourful programmes by children from the Fröhlich Music School, the Luisen Music School and the Lower Luisen School.
Annett Illert, Neighbourhood Manager "Stadteingang": "An important focus of our traditional family festival this time, in addition to the many wonderful offers at the stands and our stage programme, is also to inform the citizens about the commitment of the active people from the Mitte-West district, without whom such diverse work in a community would hardly be possible. The organisers of the district festival would therefore like to use the district festival to provide information on topics such as networking, strengthening identity and further development of citizen participation and thus support the work of those involved. We will be focussing on the various associations, voluntary workers and volunteers in the area as well as on opportunities for interested parties to get actively involved in various projects. Last but not least, the neighbourhood festival is intended to be a day of encounters with foreign but local cultures: We would like to draw attention to this multicultural offer, which is open to all neighbourhood residents."
