Communication training for democracy

Adult education centre: Course on 19 October, 3.30 to 9 p.m., TIETZ, Room 4.07

On Tuesday, 19 October, from 3.30 to 9 pm, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites you to a communication training for democracy in the TIETZ, course room 4.07. Admission is free. Admission is free.

The course will develop simple methods for reacting to and countering anti-democratic statements and right-wing slogans. The mechanisms of prejudice and discrimination as well as personal attitudes will be analysed. Participants learn how to represent their point of view confidently - e.g. to club members, colleagues or family members.

Discrimination happens every day. People of a different skin colour, sexual orientation or religion are constantly exposed to hostility, exclusion and condescending comments. But people who are politically active and campaign for democracy are also verbally attacked. The programme is aimed at all interested parties, including volunteers in clubs and associations. It is open to people who are themselves affected by hostility and to those who do not want to stand idly by and remain speechless.

The course is a cooperation between the Bürgerstiftung für Chemnitz, the Saxon State Centre for Political Education and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre. It is funded by the Local Action Plan of the City of Chemnitz.
