Commitment is supported: 42 projects will receive funding from the Local Action Plan this year

Information from the Coordination Centre on the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz (LAP)

42 projects can be supported this year with funds from the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz: Municipal funding was applied for by 53 actors, of which 35 projects will receive a grant from the City of Chemnitz budget - a total of €80,000 in municipal funding is available for this in 2013. There were twelve applicants for support from the federal programme - 95,000 euros are available this year - of which seven projects received funding for the implementation of individual projects.

Note: The appendix contains an overview of the projects funded by the City of Chemnitz and the federal programme as part of the Local Action Plan 2013; the overview also lists the projects that did not receive funding. The LAP Coordination Office informs you that there will be no second round of applications in 2013, as the funding could already be spent in full in the first application round due to the good quality of the applications already submitted.

The "Show your face against right-wing violence" campaign will continue in 2013 with municipal funding. Interested parties can still take part with their own photo and also submit a statement. Further information is available at http://www.chemnitz-zeigt-gesicht.de. The project organiser remains the Chemnitz Workers' Welfare Association.

Following the successful premiere of the diversity festival "Hetero-, Homo-, Bi- or Trans? - Chemnitz, the city of diversity can do it!" in Chemnitz, the organisation different people e.V. is planning a sequel this year. This project is also subsidised with municipal funds. You are cordially invited to take part in the continuation of the Chemnitz "TÜDELÜ" as part of the Chemnitz City Festival on Saturday 31 August 2013 under the motto: "In the middle instead of on the outside".

Ines Vorsatz, Head of the LAP Coordination Centre at the City of Chemnitz, explains: "In 2012, many objectives of the Local Action Plan were successfully realised with the support of numerous Chemnitz residents. More than 16,000 citizens took part in LAP-funded projects." According to Ines Vorsatz, the work with the Local Action Plan in Chemnitz is now being recognised positively throughout Germany. Two film teams accompanied the implementation of the Chemnitz LAP and the project "Showing your face against right-wing violence" on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and created videos - here are the links:
