Commissioning of Adelsberg primary school postponed
The completion of the Adelsberg primary school and the planned move-in of pupils has been postponed by two months.
The reason for this is that a contractor of the City of Chemnitz, who is responsible for parts of the façade construction, can no longer be contacted and the construction has been delayed as a result.
As it is unreasonable to expect the school to remain open during the construction work, the education authority, the Office for Facility Management and Building Construction and the school management have jointly decided to postpone the move to the week before the Christmas holidays so that pupils can use the building from the beginning of January.
Parents will be informed by the school management and the education authority.
The purpose of the construction work is to expand the space available at the existing primary school to meet the needs of a two-form entry primary school with eight classes. Eight classrooms and four specialised classrooms for art, handicrafts, music and IT will be created, as well as two group rooms and two after-school care rooms, plus office and meeting rooms for the after-school care centre and various social areas. The outdoor facilities will also be upgraded.
School operations have therefore been outsourced since February 2022.
