Come to COOGIE - Exchange connects Chemnitz and Oulu
Music school: Final concert on 6 September, 6 p.m., auditorium, BSZ für Technik I - Industrieschule, Park der Opfer des Faschismus 1
On Saturday, 6 September at 6 p.m., interested parties are invited to a special concert in the auditorium of the Vocational School Centre for Technology I - Industrial School, Park of the Victims of Fascism 1. Under the title COOGIE, young music students from Chemnitz and Oulu, Finland, will be performing together as part of a musical and cultural student exchange project.
Admission is free, donations are welcome.
At the centre of the concert are two different ensembles that are united by their shared passion for music: The guitar orchestra of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School and the guitar ensemble of the renowned Oulu Conservatory. A dialogue is created on stage between worlds of sound, cultures and people who cross borders with curiosity and enthusiasm.
The audience can expect a varied programme that ranges from delicate, filigree guitar sounds to powerful, orchestral moments. The world premiere of the work "Winds" by Janko Rašeta is a particular highlight of the concert.
Music knows no language barriers - it brings us closer together, the directors of the two ensembles agree. With their concert, the young people show how enriching international co-operation can be - for the stage and for life. The Finnish guests will be in Chemnitz from 31 August to 7 September. Oulu will be one of the two European Capitals of Culture next year.
