Colourful family festival for Children's Day in Chemnitz city centre

There will be a colourful family festival in Chemnitz city centre on 1 June to mark International Children's Day. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., various initiatives and players will be inviting parents and their children to play, have fun and do sports around the town hall. For example, the "Little Witch" from Chemnitz Theatre and music ensembles from the municipal music school will be out and about in the city centre throughout the day.

Rosenhof and Innere Klosterstraße
At 10 a.m., the Chemnitz City e. V. citizens' initiative will kick off its family festival in the Rosenhof courtyard. In addition to archery, a sensory trail, a creative trail and Indian dance, young visitors can expect street music by children for children. Anyone who has always wanted to take a spin in a motorised children's vehicle can take the KidCars for a spin around the Rosenhof. Children can hole out on a mini golf course organised by Exclusiv Events in Innere Klosterstraße. The day will be accompanied by live music.

Market and Neumarkt
Children can marvel at large vehicles directly at the town hall from 11 am. The Chemnitz fire brigade presents its fleet of vehicles and the ASR presents some of its waste disposal vehicles and street sweepers.

Düsseldorfer Platz
Right next to the community centre on the Wall, there will be a sustainable event from 11 am to 3 pm. On Düsseldorfer Platz, children can build insect hotels and make seed balls together with their parents or grandparents. Children will also have the opportunity to ride around the square on bobby cars or bicycles.

Red Tower and Stadthallenpark
The art collections invite you to a family festival at the Red Tower. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there are many artistic and creative activities on offer. Thomas Rosenlöcher reads stories for children, visitors can try their hand at creative weaving, and artist Filip Zorzor "Paints the world colourful!". Children can try out various circus attractions and the FabLab project offers crafting with a 3D printer.

Three professional make-up artists from Chemnitz Theatre will transform the children into animals and superheroes during the children's make-up session. The children's and youth choir will give a taster.

City Hall Park
From 11 a.m., children can shoot hoops in the Stadthallenpark. The Niners support the children's festival with basketball hoops and basketballs. Reading time begins at 2 pm in the Stadthallenpark. The Chemnitz City Library offers readings for children. Frauke Angel will be reading from her children's book "Geht ab wie Schmitz' Katze" from 3 pm. At the same time, illustrator Stephanie Brittnacher will be drawing the content of the story and the audience. Bouncy castles invite you to jump.

Am Kopp / Brückenstraße
There's something for the ears at the "Am Kopp" children's day. Young rappers from Chemnitz (Vaatinn and Big Buddah), a children's band from Berlin (Baked Beans) and the rappers Waving the Guns from Rostock will be performing on the stage in front of the Karl-Marx-Kopf. Right next door on Brückenstraße, ball artists can put their skills to the test from 1 pm. The street sports team from Sportjugend Chemnitz e. V. invites you to a street soccer tournament.

City tours for children
The Tourist Information Centre offers free city tours for children at 2, 3 and 4 pm. Each tour lasts 45 minutes. The meeting point is at the information pillar on the market square.
