Collection of sports centre fees
At its meeting today, the city council adopted new bylaws on the levying of fees for the use of municipal sports facilities. These are to come into force from 1 January 2021. The statutes cover indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sports halls and rooms as well as sports grounds. The current fee statutes have been in force since 2011.
After almost ten years, a new fee statute is necessary. Among other things, operating costs have risen over the past ten years, with electricity costs increasing by 28 per cent. Both the company's own personnel costs and the costs for contracted service providers have increased. Furthermore, extensive maintenance and construction work is required on the sports facilities.
The fees are categorised into two tariffs. Tariff 1: for public use of indoor and outdoor pools. Tariff 2: for use by clubs and schools in sports halls and rooms, on sports fields and in indoor swimming pools.
For public use of swimming pools, the reduced rates in indoor pools will be maintained or even reduced in the indoor swimming pool at Südring. The family card now includes an unlimited number of children. There will also continue to be lucrative course offers and prices. The rates for normal payers will be increased slightly. However, the fees in Chemnitz are still lower than those in Dresden and Leipzig.
The fees for C-Pass holders will remain the same. Holders of a volunteer card and a DANKE-Card will receive reduced admission to the municipal pools. This is in recognition of voluntary work.
The fees for using the sports facilities will also be increased. For the clubs, however, the discounts in the amount of the percentage of children/young people and people with a handicap as members of the club remain in place. This applies to all club usage times. In this way, the City of Chemnitz wishes to further promote work with children and young people. This results in only a small fee increase per individual member.
For the use of a single-field sports hall, clubs without a children's and youth section as well as disabled athletes pay 3.15 euros per hour. Once the statutes come into force, the amount will be increased to 4.40 euros per hour. With a 20 per cent share of children and youth members as well as disabled athletes, a club currently pays 2.52 euros per hour. Once the statutes come into force, the amount will increase by just one euro to 3.52 euros per hour. If there are 40 per cent children and young people in the club or disabled athletes, a small increase from the current 1.89 euros to 2.64 euros per hour is planned.
For the use of a football pitch, the fee for a club without children and young people or disabled athletes is currently €6.52 per hour. Once the statutes come into force, the amount will increase to 8 euros. If 20 per cent of the members are children and young people or disabled athletes, the club will pay 6.40 euros per hour instead of the current amount of 5.22 euros per hour. If 40 per cent of members are children and young people or disabled athletes, the amount will increase from the current 3.92 euros to 4.80 euros per hour under the new statutes.
