Coal atlas with facts and figures about a global fuel

The Environmental Centre invites you to an event next Wednesday, 12 October 2016, 7 pm: "Coal atlas with facts and figures about a global fuel" - lecture and discussion with Dr David Greve, state director of BUND Sachsen e.V. and Bernhard Herrmann, member of the AK Energietisch.
Background: Germany is the world champion in the production of lignite. The 30 largest coal-fired power plants emit a quarter of Germany's greenhouse gases. The coal business has been subsidised to the tune of over 350 billion euros since 1950. The governments of the 20 largest industrialised countries also subsidise the search for fossil raw materials to the tune of many billions of US dollars every year, even though these projects have no future either economically or ecologically. As the most climate-damaging fuel, coal is responsible for more than 40% of global CO2 emissions and also contributes to drastic damage to the environment and therefore also to humans, as toxic pollutants are released during combustion. The Coal Atlas reports on all this.
The Coal Atlas was published by the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the German Association for the Environment and Nature Conservation. The event takes place in cooperation with the Stiftung Weiterdenken and BUND Sachsen at the Environmental Centre.
