Closures to KOSMOS Chemnitz

KOSMOS Chemnitz will take place on Friday, 17 June, from 12 noon to midnight, mainly in the area of Bahnhofsvorplatz, Mauerstraße, Theaterplatz, Schillerplatz, Georgstraße and Brühl.

The following streets will be closed for this event from Wednesday, 15 June, 6 a.m. to Saturday, 18 June, 6 p.m., and stopping and parking bans will be in place.

Road closures

Full road closures from 15 June, 6 a.m. to 18 June, approx. 6 p.m:

  • Georgstraße between Straße der Nationen and Mühlenstraße and
  • Karl-Liebknecht-Straße between Richard-Tauber-Straße and Untere Aktienstraße

Full closure from 16 June, 6 a.m. to 17 June, end of event:

  • Mauerstraße


Closure to through traffic from 17 June, 12 noon to 17 June, approx. midnight:

  • Access to the station forecourt, including access to the car park and approach to the station. Access is only possible for those authorised by Deutsche Bahn, the Federal Police and taxis. Local residents can access the station along Bahnhofsstraße (access to the station via the side entrance)


Stopping bans

Stopping bans will be in place on the following streets from 15 June:

Georgstraße, Karl-Liebknecht-Straße and Richard-Tauber-Straße.

From 16 June, stopping bans will apply in the following sections:

Station forecourt car park, Straße der Nationen at Schillerplatz, Minna-Simon-Straße, Mühlenstraße car park opposite Hauboldstraße, Untere Aktienstraße extension, Hermannstraße, Zöllnerstraße and Zöllnerplatz. To ensure the safety of the event, it is imperative that the established stopping restrictions are observed.

Diversion route

It is possible to bypass the closure via Straße der Nationen - Müllerstraße - Mühlenstraße.

Parking and public transport

Due to the limited number of parking spaces in the city centre and the expected disruption to private transport, it is strongly recommended that you use public transport.

The designated Park&Ride car parks, the car parks of the surrounding shopping centres (Chemnitz Center, Neefe-Park, Sachsenallee, ACC) and the car park at the ice rink are indicated as central access areas for people travelling from outside the city. Travellers will also be informed on the internet (social media) about current parking options and any overcrowding in car parks.
