Closure of daycare centres and schools

Regulations and information for affected parties

The City of Chemnitz regulates the necessary closure of daycare centres and schools in the event of coronavirus infections as follows:

A facility can be closed if

  • the incidence of infection in a facility can no longer be clearly demarcated, for example because there is an open concept or collective groups
  • or there are overlapping lessons by specialised teachers
  • AND the AHA rules could not be adhered to on site.

In this case, only the health authority can decide on the closure and justify it.

This decision will be communicated verbally to the head of the centre immediately and by the next working day at the latest. At the same time as the verbal notification, the public will be informed via the City of Chemnitz's communication channels.

What happens next for parents?

In the following case, parents are entitled to compensation for any loss of earnings (in accordance with Section 56 (1a) of the Infection Protection Act) if the following points are met:

  • You have a copy of the notice of closure of the centre and
  • a confirmation from the centre management that the child attended the centre at the time.

Parents who do not have a quarantine notice but are affected by the closure of the centre should contact their centre management.
