Cleaning the central bus stop
Invitation to the press event: 24 June, 9 pm, Neumarkt
From Monday next week, the floor of the central station will be deep-cleaned. This has been agreed by the project partners City of Chemnitz, Chemnitzer Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft, the two shopping centres Galerie Roter Turm and Galeria Kaufhof and the owner of Chemnitz Plaza, DRG-Immobilien. The deep cleaning is scheduled to last three to four nights, from 9 pm to 5.30 am. The costs will be borne jointly by the project participants.
The cleaning is carried out using special hot water technology. The so-called Jadon cleaning process is based on hot water, steam and high pressure. There is only one provider of this technology in Europe, based in the Netherlands.
Deep cleaning includes the removal of grey haze, chewing gum, food stains, faeces (pigeon/dog faeces, urine), oil and grease stains as well as algae and moss build-up.
The soiling is processed and removed in a treatment phase. The released cleaning water is immediately extracted from the surface and filtered in the cleaning machine. In this way, the water and the solid dirt can be removed separately. The appliance can work completely independently and only requires a water tap near the place of use. They are equipped with the latest diesel technology and have a high-quality, electronically controlled exhaust filter system.
In order to maintain cleanliness for as long as possible, the city's public order service will carry out more frequent checks at the central bus stop in the coming weeks. In addition, wilful littering can result in fines.
The central bus stop is very busy every day and its location makes it a centre of attraction for visitors. As it is largely covered and therefore the rain does not act as a "cleaning agent", there is massive soiling (grease, chewing gum) in many places.
Invitation to the press event: The Mayor of Public Order, Miko Runkel, together with the ASR operations manager, Dirk Behrendt, and the city's public order service will be holding a press event on Monday, 24 June at 9 p.m. on Neumarkt to present the project and the cleaning process.
